My Practice Notes this Week! (4/16/2025)
Beethoven Eroica, Mendelssohn Scherzo, Carmen Entr'acte!
Happy Wednesday!!
I am so happy to be back! I truly missed you all last week and I’m so glad to be back with another week of practice notes.
Unfortunately, my healing hasn’t been as linear as we thought, so I’ve been home in Canada for a few weeks and completing my school work for Carnegie Mellon online. It was really hard to move home so suddenly and leave all of my classmates in Pittsburgh behind, but it was absolutely the right move so that I could heal properly from my ankle injury and broken foot! (We didn’t know the foot was also broken at first…. surprise!) I’m still in a boot, and now walking with one crutch (sometimes none!), so my healing is definitely going in the right direction, and I am on track for my travels and lessons this Summer. More to come on that…..
For now, let’s dive into another round of practice notes!!! I have a NEW orchestral audition coming up…. the last one I took was a Third Fl/Piccolo audition for North Carolina, and this is a Principal flute audition in Canada, so the lists are very different. I haven’t been able to cover a lot of the principal flute excerpts with my professor at CMU yet, so it’s been tons of fun to start covering my bases on those, and learning lots along the way!
Let’s start with my lesson notes.
