My Practice Notes this Week! (6/12/2025)
Everything I've learned so far at The Consummate Flutist + Prep for Europe
HAPPY THURSDAY!! How are you?!?!? I am so happy to be back with another round of my weekly practice notes. I have SO much to share this week… I am currently assisting at The Consummate Flutist, an amazing week-long flute summer festival that takes place at Carnegie Mellon University each June. TCF was the first summer festival I EVER attended (6 years ago in 2019!), so it is so meaningful for me to be back here and assisting as a CMU student- plus, I have the opportunity to give a class tonight called “Social Media for the 21st Century Flutist,” which I am anxiously looking forward to!
A few things have happened since we spoke last… I have a super fun vlog coming out with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra this week where I toured Heinz Hall (The PSO’s home here in Pittsburgh) and learned tons of secrets of the historical building (It might be haunted……), my performances of Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra this October were publicly announced, and I embark on my six week adventure in Europe A WEEK FROM TODAY. So many things are happening and I am so excited to bring you along on all of them!
For my practice notes this week, we are going to be diving into the notes I’ve taken at The Consummate Flutist so far, plus what I’ve been doing to prepare for my study trip to Europe where I am studying excerpts with Egor Egorkin, Julien Beaudiment, and Paul Edmund Davies. Buckle in!
