Happy Wednesday!

I am so excited to be back with another round of my weekly practice notes. There is lots to cover this week; In my lesson, we had a very fruitful discussion on preparation and planning for performances, as well as worked through Franck Sonata Movement 3, and I also attended a class on “The Evolution of the Flute and its Repertoire,” so I have lots of new knowledge to share on historical flutes! PLUS, I have lots of new ideas on how to practice and what to work on based on all of the things I learned this week. What a fruitful flute week it’s been for me!

Because we discussed tone colour in detail while working through the Franck Sonata, I’m also going to be including an example recording in this Substack so you can better understand my notes.

I’m going to divide up this Substack a little differently today so that we can hit all the topics. First, let’s dive into what I learned this week about Preparing for Performances and Setting Yourself up for Success:
